I think this is my favorite. The colors are great, and the total effect is fantastic.

This was the only square-shaped shell I saw of the night.

A couple of star shape shells.

Some more red-white-blue.

Another purple/white 50/50 shell that lined up to my POV. Note also one of the many Olympic Ring shells inside of the burst of the 50/50 shell.

This shot was hard to present. The bright burn-out of the star overwhelmed the gold of the charcoal as the shell first burst. I did my PhotoShop Tweak #2 on it (instructions elsewhere on this web).

This one also had the Tweak #2 applied. Also note the ring shell that I caught *just* after it burst.

Here is one of Bill Zuber's rainbow ghost mines.

And a batch-o-blue ghost mines.

And then - wham! Gasoline. Hot? You bet.

I'm not sure, but I think this is a 'cherry picker' shell. One big bang, and lots of red inserts.

Another Spumoni shell.

Here's something I hadn't seen too often - a strobe comet. Looks like a string of pearls to the camera.

A multi-ring shell.

Red-White-Blue -- This was one of the shell combos that Landis had to light off after the PD. (Stupid low-break.)

Kinda interesting - I *think* this is a waterfall type burst - bht those stars are very interesting, huh?

These are only a few of the many pictures I shot. I went ahead and put quite a few more pictures up for display than I normally would - but they were sure pretty. One of the problems I had was location for the camera. I chose to camp out near the rocket line so that I could catch the B-shells with minimum C-line interference. This also meant that I was closer to the B-shells than I wanted to be, but I really didn't have a choice.

If y'all made it, then great! If you didn't, then you probably stayed dryer than we did, but I'll betcha we had more fun.

These pictures were all shot at the WPA's Western Winter Blast #16, 2005.

All of these pictures are mine, but you have permission to use them for your own personal use. If you want to use them in a publication, you'll need my permission. Besides, these pictures have been compressed for the web, and I can get you a much higher quality version of the shot!
